The wrestling world is in mourning as Hulk Hogan, one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling, has passed away at the age of 71, BBC News reports.

According to authorities, first responders received a call from his Florida home at 10:00 local time regarding a report of “cardiac arrest.” Sadly, Hogan was pronounced dead at the hospital later.

Hogan, born Terry Bollea, was the biggest name in professional wrestling during the 1980s and 1990s. He became a household name with his signature red and yellow outfits, his iconic “Real American” entrance music, and his legion of devoted “Hulkamaniac” fans.

Hogan’s charisma and athleticism helped him transcend the world of wrestling, achieving crossover fame in Hollywood and beyond.

Tributes are pouring in from across the globe, with wrestling fans, celebrities, and politicians alike remembering Hogan as an “American pop culture fixture.” Despite controversy surrounding his career, including his 2018 reinstatement into the WWE Hall of Fame after being ejected for using a racist slur, Hogan’s impact on professional wrestling remains undeniable.

Hogan continued to wrestle well into his 50s, entertaining fans and cementing his legacy as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
